Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the HOA Defender: Florida Rights mobile app (the "App") and the FloridaHOAHelp.com website (the "Website") handle information. HOA Defender is an independent educational project. We designed it to be private by default: your answers and generated letters are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.

Summary

Information the App stores on your device

When you use the App, any information you enter — such as the situation you select, your answers to guided questions, and details used to generate a letter — is stored locally on your device so the App can function. This information stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it (for example, sharing a letter you generated). Uninstalling the App removes this local data.

Google Play Billing (purchases)

If optional paid features are offered, purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles the transaction and your payment method; we do not receive or store your credit card or payment details. Google may share limited, non-sensitive purchase status (for example, whether a one-time unlock was purchased) so the App can enable the feature and support "Restore Purchases." Your use of Google Play is subject to Google's own terms and privacy policy.

No cloud storage of your answers

We do not operate a server that stores your personal answers or letters. There is no user database, no login, and no synchronization of your content to the cloud. This is a deliberate design choice.

Analytics (current and future)

The current release is designed to minimize data collection. If we introduce privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics in the future (for example, anonymous counts of which features are used to help us improve the App), we will update this policy first and, where required, provide an in-app choice. Any such analytics would be aggregate and would not be used to identify you.

Crash reporting (future)

We may add crash reporting in a future version to help diagnose and fix stability problems. If we do, crash reports would contain technical diagnostic information (such as device model, operating-system version, and the technical state at the time of a crash) and would not be intended to include the personal answers you entered. We will update this policy before enabling any such feature.

The website and cookies

The Website is a static informational site. It does not require an account and does not use advertising cookies. If we add optional, privacy-respecting website analytics (such as Google Analytics 4 or Microsoft Clarity) in the future, we will disclose it here and present a cookie notice where legally required. Your browser settings let you control or block cookies.

Children's privacy

The App and Website are intended for adults dealing with homeowners' association matters and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International visitors

HOA Defender focuses on Florida law and is intended primarily for users in the United States. If you access the App or Website from outside the United States, understand that the content is specific to Florida and may not apply to you.

Data retention

Because your answers and letters are stored on your device, you control retention — you can delete individual items in the App or remove all local data by uninstalling. We do not retain your personal answers on our servers because we do not collect them.

Security

No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure, but keeping your content on your device (rather than on a central server) reduces exposure. Please protect your device with a screen lock and keep your operating system up to date.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App and Website evolve. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last reviewed" date.
